About DOLC Unlimited
Our Journey of Empowerment
Success is measured by outcomes. At DOLC Unlimited, we’ve been dedicated to transforming lives for over 14 years. Founded on a vision of holistic and personalized care, our clinic stands as a beacon of hope for those battling chronic health conditions. Our unique approach goes beyond conventional treatments, addressing the root causes of health issues and empowering patients with sustainable wellness strategies.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine takes a holistic approach to healthcare. It aims to find and treat the underlying causes of diseases, not just the symptoms. This approach is centered on the patient, taking into account their unique genetic makeup, history, environment, and lifestyle choices. It emphasizes a therapeutic partnership between the patient and the healthcare provider and focuses on the root of the illness.
Providers use a mix of traditional and alternative treatments to prevent and manage chronic diseases, leading to more effective and sustainable health outcomes. Functional Medicine often involves different tests and may include a mix of medications, nutraceutical supplements, therapeutic diets, and/or detoxification programs. This program empowers the patient to take an active role in their health journey and requires commitment, which may not be for everyone.

Khanh
Hello, I’m Khanh, a passionate Certified Diabetes Care Education Specialist (CDCES) pharmacist specializing in diabetes management for over 25 years. My journey into this field was deeply personal, as I was once a diabetic myself. Frustrated with the limitations of conventional care, I embarked on a mission to discover a better way to manage my disease without relying on insulin. Today, I am proud to say that I have effectively managed my own diabetes. This experience has not only given me empathy for the challenges faced by my patients but has also fueled my determination to provide them with the best possible care.
Struggling with type 2 diabetes and obesity by being 90 pounds overweight, I was reliant on insulin, which stores fat and promotes weight gain. What opened my eyes was when I no longer was able to trim my own toenails. This got me thinking about what other complications I could face if I was not able to control my diabetes such as kidney disease, vision loss, and even the possibility of losing limbs. Determined to change, I researched how to manage my conditions. I’ve discovered that successful weight management transcends mere calorie counting, as not all calories are created equal. Moreover, the principle of “eat less, move more” constitutes only part of my overall success strategy. Understanding the crucial role of nutrition and supplementing deficiencies helped me achieve my goals. Today, I am medication-free and have maintained a healthy weight for the past thirty years. My journey inspired me to help others.
Managing diabetes, or any chronic illness, is not a one-size-fits-all approach because every condition and individual is unique. For instance, in diabetes, understanding insulin and glucose numbers is important, but nothing worked for me until I figured out the right timing for insulin injections, not just ‘before meals’. It was a simple process in theory, but it took me some trial and error to finally achieve more predictable blood sugar levels overall. The challenge was to stop ‘chasing the blood sugar numbers’ with their many highs and lows. Managing diabetes is like driving on a two-lane highway: you must maintain your lane. Veer to the right, and you’re in the ditch; drift to the left, and you’re facing oncoming traffic. With your sugar levels being too low or too high, you’ll end up in the hospital, just like driving into oncoming traffic or into the ditch – neither situation is desirable. It took me a while to find the answer to a question that many people using insulin commonly ask: ‘I follow the instructions, certain units for certain numbers of carbs, so why isn’t anything working in my favor?’ or ‘I add certain amounts of insulin if my blood sugar is at certain levels’, only to find myself constantly correcting the blood sugar numbers with either glucose tablets (which didn’t taste good), more food, or additional insulin injections. I hear people commonly ask, “My numbers are always high, even when I don’t eat, and I don’t understand why?”
For 15 years, I had the privilege of working closely with an endocrinologist, where I dedicated myself to managing diabetic patients. This invaluable experience allowed me to fine-tune my skills and stay at the cutting edge of diabetes care. Collaborating with medical professionals has been instrumental in my journey. In addition to my work in diabetes management, I am also an American Board Certified Anti-Aging Health Practitioner (ABAAHP). This achievement reflects my commitment to comprehensive healthcare and my desire to address high-risk chronic conditions, extending beyond diabetes. Currently, I practice my skills and knowledge at DOLC Unlimited Clinic, where I continue to make a difference in the lives of patients facing high-risk chronic conditions. My goal is to empower individuals to take control of their health and lead vibrant, fulfilling lives.
My personal journey, coupled with my professional achievements, has made me a trusted advocate for those battling diabetes. I am here to support you on your path to better health and a brighter future.

For nearly twenty years, I’ve dedicated my life to the healthcare industry, a journey that has been both profound and personally fulfilling. The unique joy of knowing that I’ve played a role in someone’s decision to positively change their life is unparalleled. As the Director of Operations, I made the significant decision to leave the corporate world behind. My conviction is that healthcare should prioritize patient well-being and recovery, rather than a relentless cycle of prescriptions. Witnessing patients improve under our care, often through personal interactions, has solidified my belief in our approach and the impact of our collective efforts on their health journey.
I live by the principle that in healthcare, the depth of your knowledge is secondary to the depth of your care. This belief led me to become a Certified National Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach. There’s no better way to grasp the challenges faced by our patients than by being directly in the trenches with them. I advocate for providing options beyond the conventional, acknowledging that there are no quick fixes in health; real change takes time and dedication.
Our philosophy is encapsulated in the saying, “Success is measured by outcomes.” This became personal when my father’s adherence to our recommendations significantly improved his condition—a testament to the effectiveness of our approach, despite past frustrations due to then-limited options. My father was in a wheelchair (the first time I ever saw him in one) and could barely walk more than a few steps when he came to visit me. After living with me for almost 2 months and implementing our regimen, he left without needing the wheelchair, able to walk on his own. In our practice, we treat every patient like family, applying both empathy and tough love when necessary. We focus on addressing the root causes of illnesses, not just the symptoms.
My passion lies in making a positive change in your health. I believe in challenging the status quo and advocating for a healthcare system that truly serves the needs of its patients, with a commitment to genuine care and lasting recovery.

I understand the struggle of switching therapies and have empathy for those who also suffer from illnesses and are told that medications and more medications are the solution. This disease has become my prison for the last 10 years, causing me to miss various opportunities to travel, find employment, build relationships, and live the life I envisioned for myself.
The doctors believe it is incurable, and the only option left is to have surgery to take everything bad out and throw it away. Perhaps it is my rebellious nature, but I did not accept that as my solution. I believe there must be another way to treat myself.
I thought, if I did not have this disease when I was born, then something must have caused it. Through my own research and mentorship in functional medicine at DOLC, I believe we have found the root cause of my health condition.
However, knowing is only half the battle. It is up to me alone to have the motivation and desire to change my lifestyle if I am to beat this disease. My past dietary decisions were a major contributing factor to my condition, which I must correct.
As I continue to put in the work, I plan on helping those who suffer from their conditions like I have and guide them to improve their health so no one may miss parts of their lives.
