FAQs
Functional medicine is a holistic approach to healthcare. It focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of diseases, rather than just treating the symptoms. This approach emphasizes the patient’s individuality, considering their unique genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors.
Functional medicine and conventional medicine differ mainly in their approach to treatment. While conventional medicine often focuses on treating symptoms with medication or surgery, functional medicine aims to uncover and resolve the underlying causes of health issues through lifestyle interventions, nutrition, and other non-pharmacological methods.
DOLC Unlimited Functional Medicine Clinic manages a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to; autoimmune diseases, digestive disorders, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, nutrition deficiency, and weight management.
Your first appointment will involve a comprehensive evaluation of your health history, lifestyle, diet, and any symptoms you’re experiencing. This may include a detailed discussion about your medical history, family history, diet, exercise habits, and any stressors in your life. You are required to have current lab tests.
Our practitioners are clinical pharmacists with specialized training. While we don’t offer primary care services or diagnostics, we collaborate closely with you as consultants in preventive care, nutrition, and the management of your chronic health issues, employing a functional medicine approach. When necessary, we’ll communicate with your primary care physician and specialists for comprehensive care coordination.
Some testing can be done through conventional laboratories, and others are only available through specialty laboratories. During your visit we will determine if additional testing is needed and make recommendations.
The time to see results can vary widely depending on the individual’s condition, the severity of the issue, and compliance with the treatment plan. Some patients may notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may take several months to experience significant changes.
We do not accept insurance payments. All charges are directly handled between the patient and the clinic. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) you may be eligible to use this benefit in most cases.
Costs can vary based on the services provided. Patients should inquire about consultation fees, the cost of laboratory tests, and any other potential expenses related to their personalized treatment plan.
